Coffee District and Terrapin Shwag

I had a nice visit to the Coffee District, in Delray Beach, Thursday night to attend their Terrapin Beer Co.  promotion. I arrived late but Chung (Owner and gracious host) let me stay long enough to taste  Terrapin's Gamma Ray through the Randall (The enamel animal) with fresh Georgia peaches, it was sweet and DELICIOUS!!

This massive wheat beer is brewed with an obscene amount of locally grown Tupelo and Sourwood Honeys from Savannah Bee Company. This Gamma Ray will stop any super hero’s arch enemies in their tracks!
The high content alcohol of these beers make them perfect for cellaring…hide them away and pull one out for a special event 2-3 years later.

I could have drank a gallon, but I had to limit myself to just one ::sigh:: I was driving! My next beer was Terrapin's Wake-n-Bake, already a personal favorite, this is a magically delicious coffee-oatmeal breakfast stout. Chung put the BAM in it by adding a shot of espresso!

Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout
Black as night, this coffee stout is thick, rich and full of real coffee flavor. Brewed with the Terrapin Wake-n-Bake coffee blend created by Terrapin & Jittery Joe’s Coffee.

The best thing of all is that I ended up with a sticker, a cool Terrapin glass and a 12 oz can of Jittery Joe's Terrapin's Wake-n-Bake coffee that you see in the first picture, Chung is a super guy! Stay tuned for a post and pictures of the Coffee District. Good times!

Bell's Porter

Dogfish Head Brewery got me into craft beers a few years back reintroducing me to what I had previously known as micro-brews. Since then I have been trying them ALL. Hailing from Michigan originally makes me slightly biased for the many Michigan breweries and their delicious brews. So I decided that it was time to start reviewing some of the tasty beers Michigan has to offer! Bell's Porter is a really nice place to start. Poured out of the bottle into a pint glass it is rich and dark, it created a two inch cream colored head and left some lacing. It is rich tasting beer with hints of coffee and vanilla, a little bit of hop and a lot of malt. This beer gets better as it warms up to room temperature as most good beers do. Can't wait for the next bottle.

Alcohol by Volume:  5.6%
Original Gravity:  1.055
Shelf Life:  6 months
Dates Available:  Year Round
Available Packages:  Bottle and Draft
Brewed with a generous mix of chocolate malt and roast barley, our Porter matches subtle coffee aromas to a solid malt finish. Lighter in body than its stouter cousins, Porter earned a prominent place in our portfolio of beers with its balance of roasted flavors. First brewed in 1987, Porter remains a favorite among both our brewers and Bell's drinkers alike.
